Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) can result in vision loss as you grow older. At Advanced Eyecare Center, we offer testing and treatment for this condition, so you can protect your vision.
Types of AMD
AMD occurs when the macula in your eye deteriorates. Since the macula is responsible for helping you see clearly, AMD can make it increasingly difficult to read and do other tasks that require sharp vision. There are two types of AMD that can occur, including wet and dry forms. Dry AMD, which is more common, can occur as the tissues in your macula grow thinner over time, while wet age-related macular degeneration is a more damaging type that can cause serious vision loss
Symptoms of Wet and Dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration
Dry AMD can cause you to have distorted vision and problems with the central vision in your eyes. You might need to read or do other activities with brighter light, and you might have more and more trouble seeing in low light. Wet AMD symptoms are the same as dry AMD symptoms, but they show up suddenly and get worse in a much shorter amount of time.
